Is Pixels Inch The Same As Dpi

How do I import an image into Gimp at 300dpi?

Hi All,

I’m trying to convert a pdf file to a TIFF file and I need to open my pdf image at 300dpi. I don’t know how to do this. When I open my pdf image and then try to import it as an image, the resolution is at 100 pixels/inch. There is no option for dpi. Should I just make the pixels/inch 300? Are pixels/inch and dpi the same?

yes, create canvas at 300 ppi, the dpi is for print size, the pixels are the image size in retrospect to the inches, always confusing to many,
if image size is 8×11″ page size at 100 ppi,the increasing to 300, would lower size ratio to ~ 6×9″ so resample to 300 from what ever you start with in page size,

the pdf should be high quality, check export options for tif resolution size, when you view print option the dpi will show, the tiff file would show larger size in mb than jpg, so check ppi, but also check measurement size per pixel ratio for print,

not sure where you are at , at this point, or what tools you are using, with pdf, you want to export as eps, then import as eps , and save as tiff,

Cool PDF Reader > save as eps

Ghostscript, Ghostview and GSview , view eps >save as tif

Inkscape illustrator (not required, can import eps and resize to page, save as svg/pdf/eps..)

Scribus,Desktop Publishing ( for page layout, can import eps and images, )

other idea is to print out copy, then scan back in at 300dpi or more, to photo editor, and save as tiff,
